Poverty Sux Greatest Asset

What is your Greatest Asset?

There are countless articles written on the traits and the philosophies that businessmen and women use to use achieve success. I have yet to read the steps on how to begin a business. Although, I am just starting this blog, I am starting from somewhere. Nonetheless, I will give you some ideas on where and how to start based on my own personal experiences.
Just like starting anywhere, you need to come to a discovery or have a revelation of what it is you are best at or love doing. To go even further, what comes natural to you. What is it that you have that is your strongest asset? Let me explain this in further detail. In the famous book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie interviews Charles Schwab, who worked with the “Steel King” and Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. In the book, Dale Carnegie presents a question to the reader,“ Why did Andrew Carnegie pay a million dollars a year or more than three thousand dollars a day, to Charles Schwab?”. So in the interview Dale Carnegie asks Mr. Swchab what was the exact key to his success. The answer is astonishing. The key to his success was not that he knew more about the manufacturing of steel than anyone else, but that he knew others who knew more about the process than he did. Charles Swchab responds by saying, “I consider my ability to arouse enthusiasm among my peopleThe greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a person is by appreciation and encouragement. There is nothing else that so kills the ambitions of a person as criticisms from superiors. I never criticize anyone. I believe in giving a person incentive to work. So I am anxious to praise but loath to find fault. If I like anything, I am hearty in my approbation and lavish in my praise.
For this man, who helped build and shape America at the turn of the 20th century, he had a full understanding of his greatest asset which was his gifting. The point I am trying to make is this; what is the greatest asset that you possess? If I were you, I would ask your closest family members and friends, who can and will be honest with you, what they think your greatest asset is. Someone you trust to be sincere. Once you have it, then you need to look back over the course of your life and see where you have operated in that gift before. You may be really good at baking or cooking, sewing and fashioning clothes, playing music for you is easy, meaning you fully understand music theory and so forth, connecting with and edifying people, are you great with math, writing, vehicle mechanics, or something else that seems to come very natural. A further indicator of your gifting is that you can spend countless hours doing it and not even think about going to sleep. What is it that you catch yourself dreaming about? Something that you cannot take your mind off of. Now that I have mentioned this, I must say this as well. I must define passion in terms of what you are not called to do also, because when identifying your gifting, many people confuse things they like to do with the thing they’re made to do as a career. The gifting I’m talking about is not about things you like or enjoy as hobbies or pastimes. Let’s take baseball, for instance. Just because you may like playing baseball, it doesn’t mean you were called to play for the San Francisco Giants. You can enjoy playing the guitar, like I do, but it doesn’t mean that I will be a Rock Star. Does this make sense? I hope so. Find that one thing that makes you tick. The thing that drives you. Once you have discovered / realized your gifting, begin to research how you can create a business or career from it. Look at examples of people who are doing what you desire to do. Find anything and everything about that person you can, like books they have written, books written about them, etc. In my opinion, one of the many reasons people quit pursuing their dream of starting / owning a business is because the hunger in their heart to be successful has fizzled out. Wet your appetite on the people you would consider to be business mentors or role models. Keep feeding yourself with biographies and stories of millionaires or billionaires; highly successful people. You need someone to look up to.

The internet is full of good information. Remember, there are no easy roads to success or even to starting a business. The first step is finding out what is your greatest asset, gift, or talent. Once you have discovered this then you can move on to the next steps.
