Why you can be Successful?

rocky

Among many Christian circles, there are contrary beliefs that having success and money is bad. Well, they can have their opinions. I have come to believe that God wants you to become successful and wealthy but to use money for His purposes. I heard Dave Ramsey say “The poor cannot feed hungry children. The poor cannot build shelters for the homeless. The wealthy can.” Hearing this statement impacted me personally. I think many Christians would love to give a lot of money when it comes to give their tithes and offerings but unfortunately many Christians are bound and crippled by debt. Bad choices of handling finances for their families and themselves have put a serious chain of fear over their home and their minds. We have everything from major credit card debt, Student loan debt, and uncontrollable spending that has put many Christians in financial bondage. I can relate because I know what it feels like when that bill is due and the hard earned money that I worked for is going to someone else. Living pay check to pay check sux! Lets be honest here, when your income is limited and you have a family to support, it plains sucks! Poverty sux!Low Income sucks! and Debt Sucks!
Now that I have a fresh outlook on finances, I had to learn how does God look at debt and the handling of finances. I needed guidance and wisdom so I came across “Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey. Let me tell you that this book was God-sent. I needed a harsh reality about me and how I treated money. I didn’t blame anyone else for my poor decisions but myself. At the end of the day it was me. Growing up, my family didn’t know any better. I was always told, “Go to school, get your college degree and get a job. When you get a job, pay your bills and whatever you have left you can spend.” Although that doesn’t really cut because many people go to college and rack up so much student loan debt that they up loosing their minds trying to pay that debt off and they have mouths to feed. Most people end up changing their careers because what they thought would be a good job doesn’t really pay enough.  There are millions of families in the same predicament. So I was determined to do something about it. As I read the book I was learning about what would be the foundations of how I would manage my finances and while I was reading Dave Ramsey would hit on the importance of building wealth.
So after reading what the Bible says about money and reading Total Money Makeover, I knew that I had to change my ways of managing my finances. One Proverb stands out to me while I was seeking wisdom and that is “The wealth of the rich is their fortress; the poverty of the poor is their calamity.Proverbs 10:15. I once heard a saying and it goes like this, “If you save money, money will save you.” Many people do not have a emergency saving account and when trouble comes to our door, it comes kicking down the door. Most people go and take out a loan or use their credit card and like all people, they end up back in debt. So why am I saying all of this? Why am I am talking about finances first before starting a business? Because if YOU cannot manage your finances now, you will not know what to do when huge lumps of money comes to you. Most people will jump for joy and spend it without seeking wisdom on how to handle it. Trust me, if you can build the discipline and focus on managing your personal income now, and that is being faithful in the little things, you will be ready for bigger financial blessings when they come. In my opinion, this is the 1st step to success. If God can trust you with what you have in your hands then He will give you more and that means MORE RESPONSIBILITY! You can bet on that. Once you have become faithful in this area first and give like your are supposed to, then I honestly believe that God will open the windows of Heaven over you that you cannot contain.
The moment I got the revelation of this message in my spirit, I had to begin the process of setting up a budget and sticking to it. The hardest part of this process is sticking to the plan. Saving first, giving and budgeting third. Its tough but I am seeing results. Now that I finished Total Money Makeover, I was ready for my next book because I was hungry for wisdom and knowledge.

Why POVERTY SUX! and You Need a Total Money Makeover!

Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover Book

You would be hard-pressed to find anyone that does not desire success in every area of their life. I am no different when it comes to this desire. Why? because Poverty Sux! I hate living paycheck to paycheck. I hate looking at my bills and knowing that I only have so much money in my bank account. I know many of you do too. A lot of questions come to my mind when it comes to the subject of success. I often used to ask myself, “Can I be successful? Can I be a businessman? What do I have to do? What are millionaires and billionaires doing that I am not aware of? What are their habits that I can likewise implement into my daily life?” All of these questions have plagued my mind because I am sick of being in the financial bracket that I am in. As a child, I had all these big dreams and ideas of being a successful person when I grew up. But now that I am an adult, what do I have to say for myself? I am not going to blame anyone but myself for where I am at. I know that what I have been doing up to this point has not been working so I have to change. I have to change how I do life. I have spoken, in-depth, with many people about why poverty sux and have found that they too wonder if they can achieve the American dream. I may not be there yet, but I am here to say you can! As a Christian, I used to often wonder, “Can I become a millionaire too?”. If you are in the same boat as me, then allow me share my journey with you, what I have done to overcome personal obstacles, and what habits I have changed allowing me to take massive action right now toward success.

There is no doubt that many of you watch the famous tv show, Shark Tank on ABC, where people pitch their business ideas and close huge deals with men and women of tremendous wealth such as Billionaire, Mark Cuban. Every time I watch the show with my wife and kids, I catch myself saying “Wow, that is a great idea!” when someone presents something simple and easy to use. When I see inventions and new products, I begin thinking “If they can do it. Why can’t I?” Well, I got sick and tired of being in a place in my life where I was not happy. I have student loan debt and I am sick of sending my hard earned money to someone else. I want to use this blog to provoke you to become successful and “change your family tree“. That quote is from Dave Ramsey by the way.
In the summer of 2015, I was in a place in my life where I didn’t have a sense of fulfillment. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my job, but honestly, it was only going to bring me so much income to pay all my bills. At the beginning of July, I was strolling around the grocery store when I came across a book that caught my eye. It was Dave Ramsey’s book “Total Money Makeover.” For the past several years I have had student loan debt that has created a huge burden for myself and my family and honestly, It SUX! I hate debt and I want to get rid of it. So I picked up the book and within the first few pages of reading, it had won my undivided attention. I wanted to be DEBT FREE and build wealth. I began to subscribe to the Dave Ramsey show on Podcast and on Youtube. I saw many people do their debt free screams and talk about their struggles with debt. I wanted that kind of freedom for my family. Needless to say, I finished that book in a week and something hit me. In order to become debt free and increase my income, I had to change what I had been doing all my life. I had to change my habits and begin to think differently. I needed wisdom but I didn’t know where to go and how to get it. And then I had a conversation that would challenge my entire (life) way of thinking. I will share that in a later post.
This blog is for the person who is at a place in their life where living pay check to pay check sux, it seems like you can’t save, life is becoming overwhelming and you have no clue what to do or where to go. This blog is for people who are curious about success and whether or not you can become successful, build wealth and get out of POVERTY. I am here to say that you can! I will share what habits I have changed and why I changed them. I will also share my love for reading and the books that have reshaped my life and the way I think. I am not going to give you some mundane “5 Steps to become Successful” pitch. Those are everywhere. I will share what I have experienced and learned in my military career and since, and what I am currently learning now. I am hungry! I am in constant prayer, watching videos and reading about past and present successful people to learn how exactly they became an overcomer. Many of their stories are not so different from yours or mine but they will inspire you to pursue greatness. Thats what I want to do. I want to inspire you to become not only successful in business but at whatever it is you want to do and to be all that God created you to be. Having great success is something that can reshape your life and also the lives of those around you. One thing is for sure, once you become successful, people will love you or hate you. But if your heart is in the right place, you will do more to impact people around you and you will be remembered by what you have done. Follow me and lets go for a ride on what is success and why is it important. I pray that you are blessed with what I share. Lets shout it out from the roof tops, “POVERTY SUX!”
