Have you ever come across people who doubt that you will ever become successful? For many of us that are on this road called success, we tend to find challenges along way. We find challenges like changing our morning routine, turning off the TV, learning something new or etc. But what can be somewhat of a challenge is finding out that the people who currently surround you such as family or friends do not really believe in you. In fact, they are the ones who will not believe that you will stick with what you are trying to do in your life. So surrounding yourself with positive influences will be your key to a successful life.
In order of you to stay committed to your plan you have to surround yourself with positive influences who are on the same journey as yourself. By surrounding yourself with positive influences and like-minded people you will begin to not only push yourself but will to change the way you think and that is what is vital to your success. I have said over and over again, you have to change the way you think. Please get this in your mind. The power of your mind is a powerful tool because the thought impulses that circulate will influence your actions. How bad do you really want to go to the next level in your life? Ask yourself that question right now. How bad do you really want to change what you see in the mirror? Whatever that maybe, wether it is your health, finances, relationships, job, or spiritual you cannot change what you will not confront. The moment you confront what you do not like is the moment of true change. So what’s next? Finding positive influences who are on the same path.
Today there are many people who are looking to change their life on some capacity. Again it can be health, finances, relationships, job, or spiritual. So lets start with health. For a lot of people health is something that is very important because we all want to look good and feel good. The problem is that many of us do not know where to start. We often go purchase a gym membership and the moment we walk into that gym we are intimidated by all the machines and have no idea where to begin. We begin doing what we see others doing in the mirror and after a few days or weeks at the gym we all give up. Why? Because we have idea what we are doing and we are alone. But if you were to find positive influenceswho know a little more than you do when it comes to working out then you will learn something new and thus you will be on a better road than when you started. So find someone or a group of people who are on the same journey as you and you will be on a better road to success.
I have always had a deep desire to become successful every since I was young. When I was a teenager, I wanted to become like those I admired. I went to concerts and saw many bands growing up and in my small mind, I thought becoming a rock star was the top of the ladder. You know touring all over the world and partying till the sun came up was the life I thought I wanted. Shortly after joining the military, I began to look life a lot differently. My definition of success began to change. Being 20 years old and seeing great leaders in the Navy that were in positions of authority and influence changed what I wanted to become. I didn’t know at the time, but I was maturing. I was maturing on a scale that my friends back home weren’t. For the first time, I was seeing what the world has to offer in life.
In the military, there are standards and procedures that everyone has to abide by. Everyday everyone has to be well groomed and properly dressed. We had to shave, get haircuts, and make sure our uniforms are pressed along with our boots being shined. When you do that day in and day out, something begins to take place that you are not aware of. You are becoming responsible and becoming an adult. You begin to take pride in who you are and how you carry yourself. Why? Because now you have surrounded yourself withpositive influences and other men and women who are doing the same as you are. Now here is the kicker. This whole time that I was following orders and growing in the Navy, I didn’t realize that I my thinking had changed. I honestly didn’t realize it. When I would come home on leave, I thought I could pick up right where I left off with my old high school buddies and party. But shortly after I was hanging out with my buddies and visiting family, I wanted to go back to my command. I mean I was a part of something that was for the greater good. I worked on the flight deck handling aircraft and I was with people who are on the same path as I was. I was chalking, chaining, taxing, and towing large aircraft. I had the best time of my life up there. While serving, anyone can honestly tell you that they are not doing it for the money. As an E-1, E-2, E-3, E-4 and E-5, you don’t get paid hardly anything. But you walk away with friendships that will last longer than anything you have ever imaged. When times come up for advancement, you and friends are studying together trying to make the next rank or maybe one of your friends wants to get warfare qualified and then you join in. Many of those people will stick by your side your whole life. The one thing that I have learned is this, if you want what you never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.
Most of us want a brighter future, more money, healthy lives, great marriages, great kids, good jobs and much more. But one thing is this, you can’t be doing the same thing and expect different results. You personally have to want to change. It is hard trying to find positive influences and staying focused on your journey to success. So here are some ways I stay influenced. First, I find something to watch. There are tons of motivational people on Youtube that talk about success or the very subject that you are seeking. Second, download an audiobook. Go to iTunes and find something that you can listen to in the car, at work, or even during a work out. This can be very helpful because you are listening and getting the information in your mind. Third, read a book. I know for many people reading a book is something of the past but I assure you that reading a book for 5 – 10 minutes will change your life. The moment that I started to read I began to see immediate results. My thought life was changing and I began to see the world a little differently. Think and Grow Rich is where I started. It is a phenomenal book about success and it is filled with stories that will inspire you. Fourthly, find a mastermind group. If you Google ‘Master Mind”, you will find groups of people who meet on a monthly or weekly basis in your area. Go to these meetings if you can. I will admit that showing up can be nerve wrecking because you have never done this before but once you get over that initial hump and meet new people, you will get comfortable.
The main reason why I wanted to create this blog is to inspire, motivate and educate people. Success is within reach and you can achieve it. Find people who want to succeed in life and you will too. If you have any questions please feel free to comment and I will do my best in responding. Thanks for following.
